James Dixon & Sons English Folding Biscuit Box.
Decorative antique Victorian silver plated folding biscuit box, circa 1880 in date.
Has the makers' marks of the renowned silversmiths, James Dixon and Sons, the registration number 5207 and Patent number 11.350 85.
Features a highly decorative shell-shaped body sitting in a cast frame with the original interior hand-pierced dividers.
Intricate opening mechanism and shell decoration, it opens out into two halves and is held shut by clasps at the top.
Features a distinctive chased carry handle displaying attractive floral and foliate decoration.
Feet are in the form of foliate motifs.
Item is tarnished(needs polished)  I have polished in the past and it shines up ncely
Hardware and all original pieces are intact
Measures 12" tall, x 10" x 6" when folded up.
Open dimensions are 14" x 8"
