Antique 1928 English Sterling Silver Lamerie 18th Century Style Coffee Tea Set

Presented is a superb quality English sterling silver 5 piece tea set. This piece dates to 1928/1929 and was made by Crichton & Co. The set is done in a classical English style, typical of pieces from the first half of the 1700s. In particular, the design reminiscent of the work of Paul de Lamerie, a sought after Huguenot silversmith in the early 1700s. The set is beautifully hand chased and engraved with ornate Rococo style designs around the upper portion of the body of each piece. The coffee pot and teapot have nicely carved handles in rich mellow wood, and each piece with a lid (the two pots, the sugar bowl) have matching wooden finials. Each piece has a monogram of MCV on one side, in flowing script. The pieces are very well made from thick, heavy gauge sterling silver, with impressive weight for their size.
The set consists of:
Teapot: 6 inches tall. Capacity of 4 cups (32 fluid ounces/0.94 liter)
Coffee pot: 8 1/4 inches tall. Capacity of 4 cups (32 fluid ounces/0.94 liter)
Creamer: 5 1/2 inches tall.
Sugar bowl: 5 inches tall.
Waste bowl: 3 1/4 inches tall.
This set is in great condition. There are no splits, no breaks, no dents, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
Each piece is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head for the city of London, and the maker's mark for the Crichton & Co Ltd (Lionel Alfred Crichton) as well as Made in England. All the pieces have the date letter O for 1929, except for the coffee pot, which has the letter N for 1928.
The total weight for the set is 3070 grams or 108.3 regular ounces.
