Presented is a fine English Georgian sterling silver wine coaster. This piece dates to 1823 and was made by Rundell, Bridge & Rundell. The coaster is made in a handsome, classical form, with a foliate border around the rim. The center of the coaster has a nicely engraved crest of three spear heads.
This piece is hallmarked with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard's head crowned for the city of London, the date letter h for 1823, the duty stamp of King George IV, and the maker's mark for John Bridge, of Rundell, Bridge & Rundell.
This piece is in great condition. There are no splits, no dents, no cracks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.
The coaster measures about 5 ¾ inches in diameter and stands about 1 inch tall. The inner diameter where the wine bottle would rest is 3.64 inches or 92.5 mm.
This piece weighs 270 grams or 9.5 regular ounces. This weight does include the wood set in the underside, but the majority of this weight is sterling silver.
